Hopefully the pace will pick up for the remainder of the season. While there were a few funny scenes here, for the most part the jokes felt very stale and unoriginal.

Overall, the post-writers' strike episodes have yet to live up to the high bar set earlier in the season. Peter's extended fight sequence with Brian was sufficiently bloody, but really pales in comparison to the more creative violence we've seen in other episodes. Peter's note about watching Three's Company and pooping his pants was mildly amusing as well. While the majority of the random jokes fell flat, there was one brief scene showing Cleveland touring with Black Box that was absolutely hilarious, and was probably the best five seconds of the episode. The way the character is written, we often forget that despite his intellect and sophistication, Brian is a house pet. Brian also exhibits more dog-like behavior than we normally see. Not only does Brian finally let his feelings out, but Lois reacts by treating him like a dog. The scene where Brian jumps Lois is significant. The joke of him being bathed by Meg is only slightly amusing, and that's the best Herbert moment of the episode. Every episode that tries to put some focus on Herbert unfortunately seems to fall flat. Sure, he's a pedophile and is supposed to make the audience feel awkward by his presence, but other than that there's really nothing funny about him. His creepiness isn't compensated by any real comedic value. The Herbert character in general probably needs to be retired for good.

The thought of Herbert in charge of the kids is pretty disturbing, but like the main plot, the full potential of this arc isn't quite realized. Meanwhile, back at home, with no available babysitter, the Griffin parents decide to invite the disturbing Herbert to take care of the kids while they're away.

After Brian is invited to accept a writing award at Martha's Vineyard, Lois and Peter decide to tag along for an impromptu vacation. Only on Family Guy would something like this actually work. Peter neglects Lois, Lois resents Peter, Brian loves Lois, but Brian's a dog. Then again, the main story is pretty outlandish if you think about it. It's simplistic, and while the bee-keeping outfit was slightly amusing, one would expect something just a bit more outlandish. This includes seeing Peter dressed up in fishing gear, scuba gear or even bee keeping gear.

For instance, there's one recurring sight gag that features Peter planning various activities that supersede Lois's plans.
